My aunt gave me this sweet little candle when downsizing & moving to an assisted living facility. Who remembers these from the 1980's? They have a crystal like layer over the picture which provides a lovely shine to the scene. It's a bit hard to read in this picture but it says, "Christmas finds the world aglow" A little girl hangs her stocking as her kitten (next to his ball of yarn) watches. The clock above ticks the countdown to Santa's arrival.
This one has an ornate holder and depicts children spending a chilly afternoon ice skating. A cozy house in the background is sure to hold the promise of cocoa and an open fire upon their return!
Welcome to my blog. The Resting Rabbit is my place to reflect on things that catch my eye. I love color, texture, form and the cozy feeling they give your home when you get the balance just right. So here they are for what they're worth, my thoughts on decorating and anything that makes me smile. Go ahead and pour a cup of coffee, find a comfortable place & enjoy!

Winter Arrangements
I went to the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum yesterday to see their annual holiday arrangements. The people there are so creative! I just had to share some of their work.
I made this arrangement in less than 10 minutes using things from my backyard. Winter arrangements aren't too tough, so it's hard to go wrong regardless how quickly they're thrown together!
My favorite, this snowman's body is made of birch pieces and his buttons of plywood painted black. |
Abstract & very cool! |

Settling in for winter
No doubt about it, Minnesota winters can be very cold! So today I'd like to share some of my favorite creature comforts.
I bought this velvet couch about ten years ago. During winter months I pair it with a furry rug I found at Ikea. I love the combination of velvet, fur and texture of the tapestry pillow (garage sale find $2.00). Many a good book has been read there!
Next on my list is my faux fur blanket. My hubby gave me this one for Christmas a few years back. I love to cuddle up and watch movies.
Hot apple cider anyone?
Stay warm!
